Field Service Project Engineer – Sorting Systems (Worldwide)

We are looking for a Field Service Project Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced sorting systems worldwide.
This is a highly hands-on technical role. You will regularly work physically on machines, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments in the field.
Role overview
As a Field Service Project Engineer, you are responsible for the full lifecycle of international sorting system projects, combining hands-on technical execution with on-site coordination.
From installation and commissioning to aftercare, service, and maintenance—you ensure that sorting systems are built, installed, and operating correctly at customer sites worldwide.
You will work at customer locations across the globe and regularly stay abroad for extended periods to complete projects successfully.
In this role, you are not only involved in coordination, but primarily in the technical execution of the work on-site, including installation, mechanical adjustments, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
You act as the key technical link between customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams, ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and according to specification.
Description
Your responsibilities
- Install and assemble sorting systems on-site worldwide
- Perform commissioning and system testing
- Carry out mechanical and technical maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues independently
- Work physically on machines (including confined spaces under/inside equipment)
- Support customers during on-site operations
- Coordinate with internal engineering and project teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and installations
What do you bring?
- Background in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering or similar
- Experience in field service, machine installation or technical maintenance
- Strong hands-on mentality (you enjoy working with tools and machines)
- Ability to work independently on-site
- Problem-solving mindset
- Good command of the English language
- Willingness to travel worldwide and stay abroad for extended periods
- Flexibility to travel on short notice when required
Important note
This is not a desk-based or coordination-only role.
You will be actively involved in installation, maintenance, and hands-on technical work in the field.
